The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is one of America’s most capable trucks for many reasons. Here’s three of those reasons, straight from the reviewers at Cars.com.
Surprising Agility for a Beefy, Brawny Body
Trucks continue to take American consumers by storm, as sales continue to outpace any other kind of automobile. The top three best-selling vehicles so far this year are all pickup trucks. GMC’s answer to that buying trend is the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. Cars.com recently reviewed the Sierra and found it to be a joy to drive. With powerful engines packed inside an unexpectedly able body, this year’s Sierra is a must-buy.
Monstrous V8 Engine Meets Tenacious 10-Speed Transmission
When it comes to power and performance, the 2019 Sierra 1500 has both in spades. An available 6.2-liter V-8 engine brings enormous strength to the Sierra to enable it to crush the competition. With 420 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, this pickup truck packs one hell of a punch. The new 10-speed automatic transmissions gives even greater control over all that bristling energy to create an awe-inspiring experience.
A Strong Standard Engine
The Sierra 1500’s beefy bigger V8 engine is a showstopper, but don’t discredit the engine’s little brother. The Standard 5.3-liter V8 engine still provides plenty of performance. At 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, this engine is smaller but still has quite the might. When you include the eight-speed automatic transmission, even the standard Sierra equipment can take on tons of trouble.
Cars.com found that while the 6.2-liter V8 pulled ahead when pulling a trailer or carrying a lot of cargo, the smaller standard engine still performed admirably. The car site noted that without luggage in the back or a trailer in tow, “telling the two engines apart was almost impossible.”
Full-Size Truck with Small-Size Agility
Pickup trucks aren’t known for being particularly quick and limber, especially as they grow larger. The 2019 Sierra 1500 seeks to break that trend, offering more precise and responsive control than the competition.
Cars.com praised the Sierra for being “easy to drive,” saying that the pickup truck “doesn’t feel ponderous.” They made note of the truck’s tighter steering compared to past models. Cars.com also noted that the inclusion of a Sport driving mode allowed for even more feedback for when making precision movements was necessary.
